Today we're going to look at one of my favorite "charisma icons", Russell Brand. He's one of the sharpest people when it comes to speaking off the cuff.

Which is why in this video we'll be looking at Russell Brand's most savage moments, and see what we can learn from them :-)

  • It totally makes sense that you have an affinity for Russell as a charisma coach. He is not the best comedian, but his verbal intelligence is truly a gift very few people have. His conversational wit and vocabulary are really outstanding and something I envy at times too.

  • I count myself fortunate to have a bit of that Brand of humor. I love telling jokes, but I don't have a sufficient enough memory to carry a bunch of them around with me, so this style of using off-the-cuff remarks just works moderately well for me. I suppose I could carry around a briefcase full of witty anecdotes, a rolodex of relevant references, and a few handfuls of fortune cookies with insightful one-liners, but nobody wants to see that at a party. Besides, I'm much too lazy for all that. Baking is a lot more difficult than it looks.

  • Watched a couple of these videos And almost all of them involve being atound people communicating with people impressing people and why not just stay away from people to begin with we became sociale beings to benefit each other if someone is not gonna benefit me in any way why would I even bother ?

  • I can’t tell you how ridiculous this is. Russell brand is more conscious. He doesn’t think about anything he says. Spontaneous. He’s more aware than everyone that he speaks with therefore he always always always always has the last word. Trying to teach this seems to be the most ridiculou I can’t tell you how ridiculous this is. Russell Brand is more conscious. He doesn’t think about anything he says. Spontaneous. • I met him! He and his entourage came into the cafe/coffee shop I worked at one evening. Time stood still as Russ led the pack to the counter and started specifically asking for a “blue catering band aid”. I do not know what happened but before my coworkers brain turned to mush i made her go to my purse in the locker room and get a band aid i knew i had. I got to thank him for his public veganism and tell him i was a fan!

  • Russell is an active listener. He has a variety of responses because he has full command of what he knows and doesn't know in a topic, layered with the patience to listen before responding to a question. People speak with such nuance that when you listen to understand, you give yourself enough time to communicate back both that you understand their perspective and have your own unique view of the target of the inquiry.

  • Purposeful misinterpretation needs to be done really well though; otherwise you risk sounding like a pedantic douchebag! Comedians have the advantage the people expect them to be funny, and therefore their quick comments like the one about time on Sunday Brunch work really well! But if you don't have somebody like Russell's presence and mannerisms, they can sound a bit moronic! As always, it's all about the delivery! This is one of my favourite videos of yours. Loved it! 100% gonna sign up to the course :)

  • I love your reviews but sadly Russ has disappeared up his own arse a bit since these great interviews. His monologues are just him spouting multisyllabic twaddle that amounts to nothing much. As long as he gets to fit the word 'stratification' in somewhere, he's done. He's far better interacting with others, that's when you see his real skills.

  • But when the guy says "we're running out of time" and Rusell says "no we are not. Time continues" that is not just a semantic joke. He means its a choice, we cant blame time itself if we dont spend it on something. And that is what I like about the way Rusell Brand speaks. He takes the hyperassociative rambling that every adhd-ish person does to the next level: his quick associations are connected to an intrinsic red thread. Not random, not just to be funny, not semantic. So he is able to use his associative brain in a deeper way. (It inspired me to go with the flow of my own brainstorms also more and not to block it but to redirect it and stay in touch with the core of the subject). Im just guessing that since he has to do that with his own brain all his life he now has mastered doing that with other peoples trail of thoughts as well. So he is constantly on 2 levels: you think you hear random associations but he can put things in and out of context quickly and that is what makes it real humor: to put something in another context to show off its core.
