You probably know that your body language says a lot about you, but what you might not know is what it’s saying all the time.
That’s why in this video, I thought it might be fun to cover 7 things that your body language at some point is telling other people, so that you can come across as more confident and likeable.

⏰TIMESTAMPS⏰
0:23 - Sign #1: Scanning the room: You come across as boring
1:32 - Sign #2: Not letting people interrupt: Singles you out as a leader
2:59 - Sign #3: Leaning against something: You are the centre point
4:06 - Sign #4: Having your hands in your pockets: Signals nervousness
4:29 - Sign #5: Using precise and open gestures: You seem more confident
5:15 - Sign #6: Hanging your head: It makes the problem seem worse
6:27 - Sign #7: The eyebrow flash: Communicates friendliness

  • I always hear how you should not put hands in your pockets when in a conversation because you need to express your feelings with hands and so on. But I neever ever heard someone talking about what to do with them if you receive a speech or someone is talking about their problem for minutes straight. What to do with your hands then?

  • You can’t make a video about how to come off as confident without being confident yourself. They won’t believe you. Which is why you’ve done it perfectly. Your videos really help me learn a lot about being less anxious around groups and social events. Also becoming more believable even when lying. I’m not sure if the “name mistake” example was a lie or truth because you’ve said it in a way that is believable. And that is a very useful tool in many situations (Not saying the use is for good or bad). But it is a tool, that not many people realize they have and can use to their fullest potential. So I hope that I can become one of few people that can use this to my advantage

So I don't really understand why people think they can just read a book or watch a video and all of a sudden have the charismatic qualities that someone can only be born with. plus idk why anyone would take advise as to how to be charismatic from this guy he has the charisma of a pet rock.

  • An easy and effective fix for having your hands in your pocket: Put your hands in your pockets, but leave your thumbs out and keep your fingers straight (instead of curled in). This simple change will actually make you come across as more confident! You’ll see the difference if you go in front of the mirror and look at yourself putting your hands completely in your pocket, and then making the change above.

  • I’d have to disagree on the not letting others “interrupt”/join in the conversation. Obviously, it depends on the situation, but with friends, it comes off very rude. Hands in pockets is the same way. In the southern states, it’s a very cowboy thing and becomes a habit (I tend to have just the thumb in the pocket or all but the thumb. Hands crossed comes off way worse, since you give off the feeling that you don’t feel safe when inside.

  • My hands are always in my pockets unless im talking to someone. It’s cold out here and wearing gloves is kind annoying that you need to remove them to shake hands and are not really appropriate inside. Same with crossing hands. I’ve met very few people who cross hands and act defensive, most of the time it’s just cold or comfortable.

  • Having Hyperhidrosis (extremly sweaty hands) makes body language very awkward, because the only thing you focus on is trying to hide your hands and all that uncontrollable sweat. Having a conversation with people I've never met before is very strange and uncomfortable xD It is very interesting thou, what you can do with body language. :D

  • I actually use the eyebrow one purposefully. I sell ventilation systems which most new houses need one due to insulation so I end up going to new construction sites. When I walk up to a contractor I've never met I walk up and do the eyebrows when I say hey in "Hey man, how the heck have you been?!" and do the Putin handshake (hovering above normal handshake height, starting a few feet away and divebomb their hand like a hawk on a rabbit) Then I have a normal conversation, and they introduce me to other people and everyone else assumes that we've known eachother for years. It's fantastic. If they ask me about it, I tell them the truth; that it's a sales tactic designed to put them at ease so they don't feel like I'm there to sell. In my experience, 4/5 laugh and say either "Well it worked!" or "Does that really work?!" I've got a couple of people to tell me it's sleazy, to which I sincerely apologize say I hope it doesn't affect their opinion of me, and next time I see them- I can be genuinely happy and they can remember me. [For the eyebrows, the timing has to be just right. In the speed of a rather fast heartbeat or the ba dum in "ba dum tss", eyebrows and then smile.]

  • I don't like people that are quick to 'brush over' their own mistakes. If someone gestures a little, hanging their head for a second, it tells me that they are sorry. On the contrary, people that tend to be overly positive after the did something wrong, give me the impression they didn't really understand what it is they did wrong. They make me feel like I'm talking to a bomb ticking, just waiting to repeat the same mistake. It is somehow 'reassuring' to see that a mistake someone else made 'stung' a little and will stick for a little while. We all make mistakes, and I think it's important to acknowledge them.

  • I do not find anything wrong with people putting their hands in pockets. If I do it, I really didn't mean anything by it even subconsciously to express an off vibe. This is out of my box. Obviously not whilst talking to potential interest, I love them to use some gestures. I am going to agree that pockets are comfortable and warm enough to get my attention to the reality if my thoughts are lost, else I could imagine more. It eases out things for yourself so you might feel confident than before. I am not sure about everyone's opinion, I take it this way and it's extremely helpful in certain situations without knowing. I feel like I took control of myself but in a less effective way but quite helpful. That small help is what I needed at that moment to trigger another thought to make it up to a smarter one. There are various counter-self-help debates I have which I try to analyze and make the best out of it. Cheers!
